History of Apples

A wonderful story of how apples were spread across the United States is that of "Johnny Appleseed". Actually, there really was a "Johnny Appleseed".
(Born 1774-Died 1845)
His real name was John Chapman. He came from a very religious family that lived in Massachusetts.
There was never an issue Johnny truly loved apples. He did not scatter the seeds the way most people were told about as children. He was a common nurseryman. He learned all he could about the cultivation of apples and supplied many nurseries from the Allegheny River to as far as Ohio. Johnny was known as a peacemaker between the Indians and the settlers, to them he was known as "Johnny Appleseed". His travels spanned more than 50 years. Just before his 75th birthday, Johnny died in Fort Wayne, Indiana. His path is noted by the many monuments honoring his memory, the man that fulfilled the Biblical requirements: "To do justly, to love mercily, to walk humbly with God
"

Apples were introduced to New World by the European settlers who brought seeds with them in the 1600s.
